Compare the right performance information

Health Canada’s portable-air-cleaner guidance discusses particle performance and room sizing. Read the actual smoke CADR, product information and operating conditions. A marketing area claim or unfiltered fan airflow should not be substituted for the relevant clean-air performance.

Particle and gas removal are different questions. Ask what the actual device addresses and what it leaves unresolved. Health Canada advises against ozone-generating devices in homes.

Make a product comparison record

Use arithmetic without inventing a target

The airflow worksheet calculates volume and flow from an ACH assumption you enter. It does not recommend a household ACH, certify a device or design a restoration enclosure. Bring the transparent numbers and actual product rating to the appropriate professional.

Do not interpret the worksheet’s result as a guarantee of a safe room. Current conditions, sources, system behavior and public-health advice remain relevant.

Keep the source question open

Ask whether smoke is still entering, whether indoor activities add pollutants and whether a separate property assessment is needed after the event. A device comparison is one part of the plan, not a diagnosis of the building.
