Start with the household guidance
Health Canada advises against ozone-generating air-cleaning devices in homes. Do not use this page or the method tool to choose a dose, duration or re-entry time. Neither provides operating instructions.
If a provider proposes a reactive treatment for a restoration project, ask for the exact method, responsible expertise, applicable controls, product/equipment information and documented completion criteria. A promise to “run it while everyone is out” does not answer those questions.
Keep source work ahead of a broad claim
Ask what source or retained material has been assessed and which work precedes the proposed treatment. Distinguish the intended odour effect from material assessment, particle control and occupancy decisions. A temporary change in smell is not proof that every relevant question has been resolved.
